Chapter Grant Request

Grants to qualifying ASM Chapters are available to help you plan and implement special programs designed to meet the needs of your members. The Grant Program is administered by the ASM Chapter Council, with the help of Chapter Relations staff at Materials Park.

Grant Application Procedures Chapters should submit this grant proposal at least 45 days ahead of the program or activity date. Due to the limited amount of funds available for the Grant Program, approval of requests will depend upon strict demonstration of financial need and the program’s merit.

Grant Purpose

Chapters may apply for a grant to:

  • implement new, financially risky programs (e.g., regional/joint meetings with other chapters, career workshops, job fairs, seminars, short courses, etc.)
  • conduct student outreach programs (e.g., science fairs, classroom instruction)
  • send a representative to Leadership Days, when required to do so in order to remain a Chapter in Good Standing
  • take the chapter through the Rejuvenation Process
  • conduct other special programs that are designed to meet a critical need of the members

    Items that may not be considered for Grants:

  • Publications such as yearbooks or monthly newsletters may not be considered, since these are traditionally money-makers that bring in advertising revenue
  • Social programs (such as golf outings)
  • Chapter scholarships or awards.

    ** Please Note: Leadership Days Travel Assistance is awarded AFTER attendance at Leadership Days, and upon confirmation of receipts for expenses. Leadership Days Travel Assistance is refunded directly to the CHAPTER, not to individuals. The Chapter may make necessary arrangements with the attendees. Payment in advance of the program must be approved by Chapter Council, and will only be considered in very extreme circumstances.

    Chapter financial need criteria complete and assets less than $5,000






    Chapter rebates under $800



    Our Chapter meets the Chapter in Good Standing minimum requirements:

    1. Completed the Annual Financial Report due February of each year
    2. Completed the Annual Quality & Recognition Program Report due by June 30
    3. Completed the Technical Program Report due by June 30
    4. Completed the Chapter Officer Report due by June 30

    Our Chapter meets the financial need criteria:
